Whereas we used to have the NDKP system before, with the introduction of TBC, the Wolf Pack uses EP/GP (effort points/gear points) system for DKP. For further reading, and to download the addon, visit http://code.google.com/p/epgp/.
Please also download the addon EPGPLootmaster here:

We use EPGPLootmaster to distribute loot, so it's very important that you have this addon ready before raid. Else you might miss out on loot or slow down the raid.
EP/GP system has multiple advantages over other systems.
Its more important features are:
- Each boss has a set EP value. This is also called Event Value. As our NDKP system once dictated, we used to have different DKP gains after same boss kill. Some loots had more DKP indicating a greater DKP gain; but more importantly as items started to get sharded or each loot has become an upgrade, the DKP gains dwindled to minimal values.
Yet, the effort remained the same. With the EP/GP system, your effort will be rewarded the same regardless of the loot distributed (over time though, the EP values of bosses might be decreased, an example would be Onyxia when we were farming Nefarian). - Each item has a set GP value as well, and there are no upgrade costs as might be present in other systems.
- EP/GP = PR (priority) and this PR value indicates to whom the loot would go to (there are a few exceptions to this, see the bottom of this page).
- There is a minimum EP value for raiders to have first to be able to receive an item + a minGP value is given on first raid joined. This is usually put in place so that newcomers would have a slight disadvantage in getting loots over the veterans. Yet, this disadvantage is much more smaller when compared to our old NDKP system. Check the current minEP value below.
- baseGP will be set to 175 which means everyone will get +175GP immediately. Hence, all guild's GP values are increased by 175, even newcommers. Decay will not lower people's GP when it hits down to 175. This will lead to newcommers getting loot harder, and prevents priority boost of long term afkers.
- There is the concept of decay in the system. What this means is after each 25-men raid, your EP gathered will be decreased by a set percentage. The GP spent will be decreased likewise. This has 2 implications:
- It prevents hoarding. In essence, since both EP and GP are decaying at the same amount, what you paid to an item will essentially be 0 (zero) over time and it is always advantageous to gain items first (they would decay faster).
- Decay is also a rough indication of attendance, since your points will decay over time and you would need to participate in raids to increase your EP and to gain loot(especially when there is a minimum EP value set).
- Since EP/GP system is not a zero-sum system, it is easy to add in bonus points and penalties without having an adverse effect on the working of the system.
- When you download the addon, the only thing you need to do is press J or type /epgp show to display the current EP/GP standings.
Below are some points on how you gain EP,
and the system parameters that affect the system:
- System Parameteres: (subject to change anytime)
- Decay = 10 %
- minEP = 8000
- minGP = 175 (initiated on first raid)
- Bonus points:
- Coming to raids on time (this means being ready at the instance entrance or for summons at the start of invite time) is 100 EP.
- Signing to raids is 100 EP.
- Being in the raid at the time the RaidLeader calls it is 100 EP.
- Penalties:
- -250 EP if you sign and do not show up when raid starts.
- Another -250 EP if you fail to show up in the first half-hour.
- If you let us know in advance that you cannot participate for a raid for you have signed, there is no penalty.
- -250 EP if you d/c in the middle of the raid and do not return in half an hour (there are simply no excuses for this, doesn't matter if you got electricity outage or Internet problems)
- Ulduar:
- 300 EP for normal modes up to Mimiron.
- 400 EP for Mimiron and General Vezaxx
- 600 EP for Yogg-Saron
- Progress runs will yield EP every 10 mins and the value depends on the boss value.
- First kills will yield double of the normal Event Value.
- Sitting out a boss encounter (prereq: you sign and there is no spot, or taken into roster and after a point you are asked out) earns you a fixed % of the Event Value of the boss (in any case the people have to be present and whisper the RL when the raid ends to get these sit-out points).
The % is:
- 100% if that person remains online and in the zone outside the raid instance in the entire duration of the raid (or leaves his char just outside, gets to an alt and remains online).
And lastly, please note the following Raid policies below:
- You have to sign to raids to participate. Those who have signed will always have priority over those who have not. For 25-men raids, the signups close 5 to 8 hours before raidtime, so try to sign as early as you can and indicate tentative. Signing up also is a prerequirement for sit-out points (see above).
- In raids and particularly in boss combats, we often go by the Free-For-All method. What this means is you do not touch the corpse of the boss and wait for the RL to distribute the loot. If, by mistake, the loot is left in Group-Loot option, you pass on ALL items. For some raids, the entire looting can be brought to FFA, in this case no one touches corpses and specified people will loot.
- When the RL calls for need for an item, those who need the item /roll. Having the highest roll is only important when two people share the same PR and above minEP value. Otherwise, PR is the deciding factor (based on a few exceptions).
- To get to know about our policy for rotations and sit-outs, especially for progress runs, visit this thread.
- The one rule that TWP uses to override the "Highest PR wins rule" is equipping the MT/OT. What this means is the MT and/or the OT receives loot regardless of their PR values (the better-geared the MT/OT, the higher the success of the overall raidgroup). Another rule is, some items favor some classes more than others in the PVE-sense. For these items, RL's call is final.
- Offspec loots = 10% of the GP if nobodyelse needs them.
- Raider rank is the member who has more than 20000 EP and this rank has loot prio (on their main spec) over members, initiates, alts or offspecs as long as their GP is lower than 1000. Raider rank has roster prio only for progress bosses. Raiders coming to raids unprepared in terms of consumables and knowledge of boss tactics will be warned. If they continue to slack, they will be demoted losing all priorities even if their EP is higher than the raider rank EP. Officers have privilages of raiders if their EP is higher than raider rank EP.
- Initiate rank people are expected to sign for 75% of the raids taking place and they will be evaluated after 2 weeks of ginvite. They will be promoted to member status or failed.
- Member rank is the usual rank. Member rank has loot prio over initiate rank.
- The rank distribution will be carried out on every other Wednesday.
